File 01 · The Selection

Four days that decide the officer.

The Inter Services Selection Board selects commissioned officers for the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force over four days. A written exam cannot predict this. The board watches you directly: in a room, in a group, and in the field.

Stage 01

Screening

Elimination

Report by 0700 hours. The Intelligence Test and the Picture Perception and Description Test run back to back. This is the elimination round, and results are read out the same morning. The afternoon brings the written psychological battery: WAT, picture stories, sentence completion, and self-description.

Stage 02

Group tasks

GTO + IO

Group Discussion, the Progressive Group Task, the Half Group Task, Extempore Speech, the Physical Ability Test, and your first sitting with the interviewing officer on the same day.

Stage 03

Leadership

GTO + IO

The Planning Exercise, Command Tasks, Mutual Assessment by your own group, and a second interview, where individual leadership stands apart from the group.

Stage 04

Conference

Board

The assessment conference. Every board member compares notes across all four days. Results are announced with green, yellow, or red cards, and those recommended move on to the medical test.

The same few qualities are checked in every written test, group task, and interview. See what they are below.

File 03 · How It Works

Write like it counts. Then have it assessed.

01

Read the guide

Free, no sign-up. Sixteen sections on what the ISSB is, who is eligible, how to report, and what happens on each of the four days.

02

Write your answers

The real formats, on your own time. A PPDT story, WAT lines, and the self-description, written the way you would write them at the board.

03

Get them assessed

Upload what you wrote. ISSB AI reads it the way an assessor would: what it signals, where it drifts, what to change.

04

Sharpen, then go

Rewrite against the feedback. Reassess. Build the same consistency the board checks for, before your call-up letter arrives.

File 04 · What The Board Measures

A handful of qualities. Checked all four days.

Across written tests, group tasks, physical events, and interviews, assessors keep cross-checking the same few things, not a list of memorized answers. The process rewards being consistent, not being impressive.

Consistency

Between how you write, how you speak, and how you act in a group.

Leadership under pressure

Specifically when a plan fails or the group disagrees with you.

Emotional stability

How you respond to failure, criticism, or something you did not expect.

Genuine teamwork

Not individual showmanship. What you do when the task is not yours to lead.

Honesty and self-awareness

Not a rehearsed or idealized version of yourself. Assessors are trained to notice the difference.

No marksheet predicts the board. Knowing how it reads you is where real preparation starts.

File 05 · Why This Exists

The process is free. Your preparation should be too.

ISSB Training School is an independent platform. It is not run by, affiliated with, or endorsed by the Inter Services Selection Board or the Bangladesh Armed Forces. Everything in the guide is written from how the board's own process actually runs, cross-checked against official recruitment circulars, join.army.mil.bd, and first-hand candidate accounts. The AI assessment is free and unlimited, because the point isn't to sell a course. It's to help you write like it counts, before the day it actually does.

File 06 · Questions

Straight answers.

The questions candidates actually ask, answered straight.

The joint body that selects commissioned officers for the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force. It runs under the Ministry of Defence, based at Dhaka Cantonment, and every officer candidate has to clear it.
